This season, we hosted a decor-making social to craft decorations for Lights on the Roof, our end-of-semester concert!

We had a lot of fun making these pressed foliage and flower lanterns. There’s something really sweet about creating decor together that we’ll all get to see lit up later. Plus, we accidentally turned the night into a mini plant-science lessonlearning way more than expected about water content in leaves and which preservation techniques actually work (spoiler: pressing and drying is an art).

There was definitely some trial and error, with a few very stubborn and very damp leaves trying to sabotage the process, but we ended up with beautiful lanterns. Seeing them with their glow was magical!
